Governors

Hi, I'm Nick Brown, and I joined the Governing Body at Yateley School in November 2024 having previously been the vice chair of governors at a local primary school. I have two daughters, the eldest now well into her learning journey at Yateley school.

Professionally I work as a senior leader within a Financial Services company, and I am keen to use my financial and strategic skills to help support staff to ensure the decisions relating to the running of the school lead to the best possible outcomes for all the children. I am passionate that the pupils of Yateley school continue to receive an outstanding education, preparing them for the years ahead.

I have been a governor at Yateley school for several years now, having joined with two daughters in the school. Time flies when you’re having fun and now there’s only one left, with the other having been helped to achieve her potential by the great teaching here at Yateley.

Being a governor has allowed me to see just how much the whole team at Yateley cares about each young person that passes through the doors, and the skill and effort they all make in improving day-after-day. I'm honoured to have the opportunity to try and help where I can.

My other skills come from around 25 years in technology leadership roles in a range of consumer goods companies. Giving me skills on strategy, finance, leadership and (I hope) technology.

I have worked as Clerk since 2013 in a range of schools in North Hampshire and joined the school in Autumn 2022. My role is to provide administrative support to the governing body as well as procedural advice and guidance on governance matters. I thoroughly enjoy the role and the insight it gives me into education and school life.

Paul German is Headteacher of Yateley School, leading the strategic vision and educational excellence of the school community.

Leonie joined Yateley School on 2019 as a teacher of Design Technology. She has a strong interest and involvement in teacher training at the school and currently coordinates KS3 Design Technology. She joined the governing body as staff governor in 2025.

I have lived in Yateley all my life, attending local schools, and recently retired after 22 years as Cover Supervisor Manager at Yateley School. Married with two daughters, I have enjoyed a varied career centred around working with people, both professionally and as a volunteer.

During my time at Yateley School, I covered lessons across all subjects and year groups, contributed to staff development, and supported student mentoring, business links, and careers events. I hold a strong interest in effective behaviour management and fostering a supportive learning environment.

I am no stranger to school governance, having served successfully on another local board for 12 years. As a Governor here for many years I have been linked to the Special Education Needs Area, Pupil Premium and more recently Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment and the Food Technically Department. I firmly believe that "every child matters" and that dedicated staff are the compass for a rich, engaging education that opens opportunities for all. Yateley School provides a fantastic foundation for young people. I feel privileged to be part of this Governing Body, drawing on my career and local experience to support the school’s ongoing progress for the ultimate benefit of our students.

I am new to the governing body having joined in July 2020 as a co-opted governor. Prior to this I spent 10 years as a governor at a local primary school and now that both of my children have transitioned to Yateley I want to utilise that experience to help me be part of making our school the best it can be.

I have lived in Yateley for 17 years and work in the NHS in West London as a Trust Lead Nurse for Cancer. I am looking forward to my 4-year term of office and working with the governing body and the wider school to provide a safe and inspiring environment for our young people to learn in.

I have lived in Yateley all my life (over 58 Years !!), attending Cranford Park Infants, St Peter’s Junior School and finally Yateley School (1979-1986).

My career has been spent in Finance related roles in both public practice and industry. I am currently a Cost Engineer working in the Public Sector on multi million pound infrastructure projects.

The last few years has seen the school go from strength to strength and really take its place at the heart of the community. Yateley 6th Form, along with the Nursery and Yateley’s Health and Fitness make it a very well rounded offering.

This is my first School Governor role, and it is a privilege to be involved in Yateley School. It has played a major part in my teenage years, with both my sons also having studied here from Yrs 7 all the way to YR13 at Yateley 6th Form and then on to University.

I have been a governor at the school since 2020, initially as a parent governor and more recently as a co-opted governor. I have lived in Yateley for over 10 years, having previously lived in Sandhurst and West London before that. My 3 children are all currently at Yateley School, and are making great progress. I have worked in education for over 25 years, with senior leadership experience in a range of secondary schools. I aim to bring this knowledge and understanding to the work of the governing body.

I joined as a Parent Governor in June 2026 and have a daughter at the school. Having lived in the area for 20 years, I am passionate about giving back to my wider community, I was previously a Governor at Kings International College, Camberley. I am really interested in helping people to start and progress in their careers, having a long and fulfilling career in Corporate HR in the Tech and Finance sectors, I now work as a Self-employed Career Coach and Team Development Specialist. I believe young people should have the broadest opportunities made available to them, with an education that inspires them, and well-rounded support and care to show them how to become good citizens. They need as much encouragement as possible to help them make the best choices they can to ensure they have a bright future beyond school into their adult and working lives. I believe Yateley is a good school with excellent pastoral care and support for staff, children and their parents, and I want to contribute to the management of the school so that it may continue building on its success whilst continuing to serve the local community.

I’m a local resident, I’ve lived in Yateley for more than a decade and I work in the third sector in a senior leadership role. My time as a governor at Yateley School has been incredibly rewarding, and I enjoy both the opportunities and challenges that being a governor brings, knowing that I am actively contributing my knowledge, skills and challenge to make Yateley School the best that it can be for the benefit of our young people and our local community. We have an incredibly talented staff team at Yateley and it means a great deal being able to help shape, reflect upon and realise their exciting plans for our school.
