Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Yateley School

How we safeguard students, share concerns and work with families and partner agencies.

Immediate danger?

Call 999 if someone is at risk of immediate harm

For safeguarding concerns about a student’s safety or wellbeing, please tell us straight away. Every concern is taken seriously and reviewed promptly.

Safeguarding commitment

Everyone has a role in keeping young people safe

Yateley School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

School procedures

Policies, procedures and partnership working

This means that we have both Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and procedures in place. All staff, including supply staff, volunteers and governors, must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.

Parents and carers are welcome to read the policies on the school policies page.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about students are discussed with their parents and carers first, unless we have reason to believe that doing so would be contrary to the child's welfare.

Yateley School has a team of trained safeguarding leaders. The Designated Safeguarding Leads at our school are Rupert Keeble, Paul German, Mike Tidd and Lynne Goldwater.

Peer behaviour

Child on child abuse

Sadly we do see incidents where young people are making poor choices towards each other. We must remember that phrases like "it is just banter" or "I was only having a laugh" are simply not acceptable and must be reported.
