Supporting Students with SEND
Every student with SEND deserves high-quality teaching and tailored support that removes barriers to learning and enables them to achieve their best.
Our Approach
Our SEND Team
Our SEND Team: A SENDCO (Assistant Headteacher for SEND), Deputy SENDCO, and Assistant SENDCO lead our approach. Learning coaches are assigned to each year group for continuity and trust. All teachers receive ongoing INSET training in adaptive teaching and "Ordinarily Available Provision" (high-quality approaches that benefit all learners).
Support structure
How We Support Your Child
Identifying Needs
Teachers monitor academic progress, attendance, wellbeing and social development. If a student isn't making expected progress, we first try high-quality, adapted classroom teaching. If progress remains limited, we assess further and involve you and external specialists as needed.
Adaptive Teaching
Your child's subject teachers use flexible grouping, pre-teaching, visual supports, specialist resources and modified delivery to match how your child learns best. This is our first and most important step.
Specialist Interventions
Beyond the classroom: numeracy, literacy and science support; anxiety workshops; social skills groups; ELSA emotional support; therapy dog sessions; study skills; free-time clubs; sensory room access. Students needing more intensive support can access our Hudson Centre for small group teaching.
Progress Reviews
We set clear outcomes and measure progress regularly. SEND plans are reviewed termly with you, your child, and staff. You'll attend annual parents' evenings and additional meetings as needed. Written records are always provided.
No Exclusions
All extracurricular activities, clubs, trips, sports days and productions are open to students with SEND. We make reasonable adjustments to ensure meaningful participation. No student is ever excluded because of SEND or disability.
Transition Support
Between year groups, we place students carefully and share timetables in advance. Moving to Yateley, we create one-page profiles and learning coaches meet you over the summer. Moving on, we advise on work, further education, independence and achieving ambitions.
Funding and Resources
We provide up to £6,000 for specialist equipment and resources. If more is needed, we'll help you apply to the local authority for an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
External Agencies
We work with educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, CAMHS and local authority services, always discussing with you first and explaining what we hope to achieve.

If unresolved, you can access formal complaints, Hampshire's independent disagreement resolution, or Hampshire SENDIASS for free advice.
