Religious Studies

Religious Studies provides opportunities for learners to understand more about the world, the religious challenges it faces and our place within it. It will develop your competence in many skills and approaches whilst enabling you to become religiously informed and thoughtful, engaged citizens.

Computer Science

The aim of this course is to help students to develop problem solving skills that support their success throughout the curriculum, to ensure each student has an understanding of different types of programming language and that they are able to program to understand how technology works.

Child Development

The Child Development department aims to provide our students with the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to the roles and responsibilities connected to child development from conception to the age of five in a variety of settings.

Physical Education (GCSE)

The Physical Education department aims to provide our students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in an ever-changing sports society. Students gain dynamic skills for further education and go out into the sporting industries with the attributes necessary to be successful employees and leaders.

Business Studies

The Business Studies department aims to ensure that our students can go out into the dynamic business world with the attributes necessary to be successful employees and leaders. Students will be entrepreneurial, independent learners, confident presenters and strong team players!

Art and Design

Art is about providing opportunities for students to develop their creativity by developing their skills and confidence while allowing them to experiment and take risks. It is our desire that our students become confident and creative learners who can work independently and develop their own personal ideas.

Music

The Music department aims to provide our students with performing, composing, listening and appraising skills in order to ensure that they become all-rounded musicians. We build confidence and prepare our students for an ever changing world, ensuring their place in it as productive and valuable individuals.

History

Studying GCSE History will help you to answer important questions such as: Learning about past events and the people who've influenced history will allow you to understand how the world got to the point it's at now and how it will continue to develop in the future.

Graphics

Graphics enables students to think creatively, converting ideas and raw materials into the products and services that we all need and use every day of our lives. Students use the iterative design process to develop innovative solutions to design problems and will be introduced to a range of design, modelling techniques and CAD packages.

German

The Languages curriculum at Yateley School intends to provide a rich and varied experience to enable all pupils to develop their linguistic ability and confidence. We offer the pupils plenty of regular opportunity to express their opinions on a variety of topics in both spoken and written tasks, with a key focus on spellings and pronunciation.

Geography

The Geography department aims to stimulate an interest and sense of wonder about places. We want students to make sense of the complex and dynamic world that they live in and to appreciate different societies and cultures. This inspires students to think about their own place in the world and their responsibilities to other people and the environment.

French

Food and Nutrition (GCSE) / Catering and Hospitality (BTEC)

Food preparation and nutrition gives students a sound knowledge of the importance of maintaining a healthy balance of nutrients in our diets and the importance of food safety, thus developing essential life skills.

Drama

The Drama department aims to deepen students knowledge and application of performance skills in order to be innovative, creative, theatre makers as well as performers. We want to prepare students for an ever changing world by sharpening their ability to work as a team (both as directors and collaborators)!

Dance

The Dance Department offers a powerful and expressive subject to study at GCSE level. It encourages students to develop their creative, physical, emotional and intellectual capacity, whatever their previous experience in the subject.

3D Product Design

3D PD is a creative and technical subject which involves designing, making and problem solving, innovating for improvement. Students will be introduced to a range of design, modelling techniques and CAD packages as well as being able to work in Polymers, Paper and Board, Timbers, Textiles and Metals.
